A pair of Classic Black Ankle Boots is one of those wardrobe essentials you can’t honestly do without, no matter the season.
If you intend to splurge on a new pair of ankle boots, you must get value for money. They need to be something that you are going to wear and wear, with a balance between style, comfort and quality. I’m a massive fan of a timeless, effortless, minimalist look. Anything black without embellishments and a block heel for versatility is high on my criteria.
The Look
Undoubtedly, a pair of black ankle boots will go with pretty much everything you own, from skirts, jeans, coats, blazers, dresses and cropped pants. They are also essential for my favourite “monochromatic look”. Below is a selection of my favourite looks.
The Search
As always, I’ve searched the internet for anything and everything that caught my eye and ultimately had the potential to live in my wardrobe. A few items are, without a doubt, high-end with price tags to match; however, I have included them for inspiration purposes in any case.
It’s Autumn in New Zealand, so it’s that time of year to look at boots in the Southern Hemisphere. Below, I have separated the New Zealand designers and stores due to the seasonal availability and for those I know who prefer to shop a little closer to home. New Zealand also has some amazing shoe designers, Kathryn Wilson, Chaos and Harmony and Beau Coops, to name a few. These designers have cult followings within New Zealand and have been embraced by international celebrities and fashion influencers.
The Favourite
My absolute favourite would have to be this Acne Studio Jensen Chelsea Boot. It has massive popularity worldwide, especially among fashion bloggers and influencers! I love the sophisticated, elegant silhouette and pointed-toe of the Jensen Boot. It comes in various colours and textiles, including suede and grain leather. However, at approx $ 540 USD, it’s a significant investment!
I also love the timeless Department of Finery (D.O.F) Carina Boot and the Zara Cowboy Ankle Boot, which are significantly more affordable. This Ann Demeulemeester Flat Leather Ankle Boot is classic and casual and, in my mind, looks every bit as expensive as it is!
The Splurge vs Steal
The Mark Fisher Yale Chelsea Boot is worth considering if your budget doesn’t quite stretch to the Acne Studios Jensen Boot. It’s almost identical and has excellent reviews. It also comes in a variety of colours and textures and has a price tag under $200 USD, making it quite the steal in comparison.
The Summary
In conclusion, so many pairs of gorgeous black ankle boots are currently available that I found it hard to draw the line at the following 32 pairs. Chelsea Boots are, without a doubt, versatile and classic, and I’m a massive fan of anything pointed-toe, which is certainly on trend.
I hope you find some inspiration from the following Classic Black Ankle Boots to complete your wardrobe, with options for every budget.
