Black is undoubtedly the most elegant and sophisticated hue and exceptionally timeless, so versatile it can be worn with almost anything. Historically, I have associated long black coats with formal or corporate wear; in my mind, they seem a bit outdated in recent times. However, with the Duchess’s style influence, it feels like, now more than ever, a simple, beautiful coat is something everyone craves.
While researching this post, I had a “moment”. From the depths of my wardrobe, I recovered a long black “Jigsaw” coat from my London days. It’s actually incredibly similar to my most coveted Smythe Brando Coat. This proves things come full circle, and one should keep that in mind when trying to justify an investment piece.
The Look
Undoubtedly, you can make almost any long black coat current. Accessorise well with a structured bag, a gorgeous pair of statement sunglasses, stylish boots, and shoe or white sneakers.
