It seems incomprehensible that I would ever have considered writing a post on the “20 Stylish Face Masks That You Will Love Wearing!”
However, after over 100 days of being Covid-19 free in New Zealand. Last week, we faced the shock announcement of the re-emergence of COVID-19 in the community in our largest city, Auckland. As a result, New Zealand was put into varying levels of regional lockdown almost overnight.
Additionally, we have been encouraged by our Prime Minister to follow the rest of the world and to wear face masks if leaving our homes, even “liberal interpretations” of face masks – including bandanas or scarves.
Stylish and Fashionable Face Masks
The rest of the world certainly has a head start on the mandatory wearing of facemasks. And it appears that over the last couple of months, fashion brands, boutiques, and Etsy have been producing and designing face masks that are fashionable and that you may actually want to wear.
New Zealand is following suit, and many fashionable and functional face masks are available online.
While the majority of face masks are not medical grade, the reality is that healthcare professionals and essential workers require surgical masks and N95 supplies. And a cloth face mask is more than suitable for the remainder of us to wear. The real point is to consider some form of protection, and face coverings are considered a vital part of helping slow the spread of the virus.
Make Your Own Face Mask
There is always the option of making one yourself, with numerous online patterns. However, the pattern choice can be overwhelming if you want to make and wear a nonmedical mask.
Additionally, if you are DIY-challenged or have struggled to get your hands on hard-to-source items like elastic now, you may want to consider purchasing one online.
Purchasing a Stylish Face Mask Online
The purpose of face masks is not actually to be a fashion accessory. However, it’s unsurprising that we may want to wear a functional and aesthetically pleasing one. A stylish face mask may also encourage people to wear them in countries like New Zealand, where they are not mandatory.
