Fashion Designers to Love – Trelise Cooper – Following up on my recent posts on “Stores I Love” Everlane and COS Stores, my next source of inspiration was “Fashion Designers to Love!” Who better to start within a world full of international fashion designers than Trelise Cooper? Almost everyone has a lifetime love affair with Trelise Cooper Collections, even if it’s just the anticipation of viewing them from afar. I hope you find inspiration in the following post, “Fashion Designers to Love – Trelise Cooper”, featuring her 2018/2019 Spring/Summer Collection.
New Zealand is famous for…
I was born in Christchurch, New Zealand and have lived here most of my life (except for a three-year working holiday in London). New Zealand is one of the most southern countries globally, often confused with Australia and frequently left off world maps!
New Zealand is famous for many things! Including its legendary & stunning scenery, the All Blacks, the first country to allow women to vote, the Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, New Zealand Beef & Lamb, the Kiwi (small flightless bird), the Kiwifruit, its Sheep and Wool, a very early non-nuclear stand and being one of the first countries to experience the New Year.
Last but not least, New Zealand is the home of numerous incredible fashion designers! My favourites would have to be Trelise Cooper, Kate Sylvester, Karen Walker, Moochi, Huffer ( I have teenagers), Juliette Hogan, Taylor, Maggie Marilyn, Deadly Ponies, Commoners, Company of Strangers, and Beau Coops, to name a few.
Trelise Cooper – Fashion Designer
Undoubtedly, Dame Trelise Cooper is one of New Zealand’s most successful and internationally accomplished fashion designers. She believes fashion is The Theatre of Dreams; & celebrating all that it means to be a woman is at the forefront of her renowned and highly elaborate fashion.
Trelise Cooper’s iconic fashion is so well known that it’s inevitably instantly recognisable as “Trelise”. It’s flamboyant yet timeless; most items will invariably be an investment piece you can have for years.
I recently read the following of Trelise Cooper, and it couldn’t be more accurate; “A woman’s first Trelise Cooper experience is the start of a lifetime love affair. Each season, revealing the latest Trelise Cooper collection is like unveiling a romantic and eclectic art exhibition. Every piece in the range has been lovingly crafted using diverse fabrics and finishes to create the final beautiful result”.

In New Zealand, it’s currently Spring and as we head into Summer, the Festive Season, Wedding Season and our very own Racing Cup & Show Week. For an occasion and to celebrate, I would almost certainly opt for “Trelise” the following are my favourite items that I would love to buy for the “Season” and as an investment piece for years to come.

1) COOPER – TIERS IN HEAVEN DRESS (BLUE)
I am absolutely in love with this style of dress. Floaty embroidered mesh creates tiers down to a maxi length. With sparkled ribbon ties at the shoulders for a delicate finish. You can dress this up or down with jeans, a cami/singlet top, or a slip dress.
Another gorgeous style in black Trelise Cooper – Mesh and Easy Dress is currently on sale, perfect with an Everlane – Japanese GoWeave Long Slip Dress or this Victoria’s Secret’s Luxe Satin Slip.
I won’t advocate or wear the almost nude look underneath (left for younger or the more model-like amongst us). It is a stunning look that can be worn in many different ways.

Just stunning, creating endless possibilities.

What’s not to love about this ‘Dress Who’ dress made from light silk organza with a dramatic floral print? You will always feel comfortable in this dress and look stunning with a relaxed fit and drop waist. I love comfort dressing and think women look the best when they look at ease in what they are wearing. Once again, dress up or down with stylish white sneakers for an everyday look.

5) TRELISE COOPER – TULLISE SKIRT
Goodness, this is a seriously stunning skirt. It has an elasticated waistband and a full, soft tulle skirt, including an attached above-the-knee lining. The Trelise Cooper ribbon trimming around the bottom is gorgeous, leaving no doubt you are wearing “Trelise.”

6) COOPER – I’M DRESSED OUT DRESS
With stunning vibrant florals, ‘I’m Dressed Out’ is a flattering dress made from a printed silk crepe, falls to a midi length and has bell sleeves. Once again, a dress to wear rather than it wears you !! Dress up or down… There is a shorter style version of this dress, “Into the Woods Dress”; however, I don’t have great legs; therefore, the midi length is for me.

9) TRELISE COOPER – COVER ME UP JACKET & WORTH A PRETTY PENNY DRESS
While I love the Worth a Pretty Penny Dress (and especially covet the entire outfit of the dress and jacket in Pink). It won’t suit me, despite whimsically dreaming that it could !!
However, I think the “Cover Me Up Jacket” in Black (or Pink) is a must-have and would be amazing to compliment many of the above dresses and your entire wardrobe for years to come. Stunning, elegant and timeless is all I can say.
